Yaquis, PROGRESS AND FREEDOM Progress and Freedom. The Yaqui on the eve of the Repatriation is the title of my second book on the Yaqui in Yucatan, and its name is due in the first place with a double meaning of progress. Just the progress was one of the mobiles of the policy of deportation; the Yaqui with their desire for autonomy and for possession of the land, did not allow that order and progress (such as wave civilizing, modernization, global) lay their real in the south of the state of Sonora. It was then when the outbreak of the war of the Yaqui that had as one of its consequences the deportation to the Yucatan. But progress was also the yucatecan port that served as a threshold to exile Yaqui, and that many times the saw from in its return to the long awaited Sonora. In terms of freedom, as well as liberation, appears in the book frequently quoted. Refers to the moment that the Yaqui were exempt from work in the haciendas henequeneras and concentrates in the yucatecan capital to be shipped to the alleged repatriation. The same Yaqui allude to that period (which varies between each Yaqui because not all of them were evicted at the same time farms nor all departed on the same date) as the freedom. The subtitle The Yaqui on the eve of the Repatriation is more explanatory and alluded to just the facts that gave rise to the return of some Yaqui from Yucatan to Sonora, with emphasis on the own Yaqui, the main actors of this work, and not so much in the political and agricultural entrepreneurs who benefited from the deportation.
