Yard Maintenance Subsidy Increased for Most Vulnerable Residents Dealing with Ice Storm Debris Mississauga City Council passed a motion to increase the Yard Maintenance Subsidy to help residents most in need deal with tree debris from the recent ice storm. The yearly subsidy, for seniors and people with disabilities who receive government income supplements, will be increased to provide an additional $200 for costs incurred to deal with the ice storm tree debris. This program provides a subsidy on a per-household, per-year basis to help Mississauga’s most vulnerable residents with the costs of grass-cutting in the spring and summer, as well as snow-clearing in the winter. Once accepted for the program, residents submit receipts to the City for reimbursement up to the subsidy amount each year. Residents currently enrolled in the program will receive an additional form in the mail to apply for reimbursement for ice storm costs. In order to receive the additional $200 subsidy, residents must ensure that receipts clearly identify costs as part of ice storm tree debris clean-up. Visit the City’s Yard Maintenance Subsidy web page for more information and the application form for eligibility criteria.
