Yasin Malik condemns eviction of Kashmiri shopkeepers in Leh Srinagar, : Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik on Monday alleged that the government had started eviction drive against the Kashmiri shopkeepers in Leh in the name of road widening, terming it a ploy to divide people for vote politics. “The state government is pressuring the Kashmiri shopkeepers to vacate their shops in Leh,” said Yasin Malik in a statement today, terming it highly condemnable. “The state rulers are harassing the minorities in Leh and Jammu for vote politics. Sometimes they harass them (minorities) on religious basis and sometimes on regional basis. They are currently using this tactic in Leh. In the name of road widening, the government is forcing the Kashmiris to close down their business outlets,” said Malik. He said that a delegation of shopkeepers from Leh called on him today at Maqbool Manzil here and informed him about it. Quoting the delegation, Malik said the local shopkeepers were not being asked to vacate their shops. “It is only Kashmiri shopkeepers who are being targeted. This is sheer injustice with the Kashmiri shopkeepers by the government,” he said warning the government against ‘unlawful action’, “The High Court has already issued directives to the government against eviction of shopkeepers in the name of road widening in Leh. The notice for eviction of shopkeepers has been issued by the Land Collector,” he added. Meanwhile, Front has condemned the police raid on the residence of its activist Mushtaq Ahmad Wani in Ganderbal area, terming it unjustified.
