Yea, this one probably isnt that serious... My first cinema trip out with the lads was somewhat eventful. A group of 9 obliviously aging young men were IDd (partly due to a mute and a Disney shirt) and (serious WTF Akash!) turned away from the blood soaked mess of a movie that was 300: Rise of an empire. We werent looking for class, just a good time, so everyone got tickets to the need for speed. Needless to say waiting an hour for another 3 of gears, gas pedals and blazing wheels was quite something, since thats probably what they used to write the script. The film was just dull. I went in expecting a high octane poor quality fast and the furious clone, but this one seemed to want a weave a deep inner message about redemption and vengeance through it like Rush. A movie for teenagers about driving tried to create tone and depth... needless to say a car crash is a compliment. There were some points in the movie where I literally smashed my head onto the front seat and moaned in agony- some films are so bad theyre good. This film was so bad Id rather drink a gallon of motor oil, drop a match down my throat, and explode all over the directors house; and especially his bloody car! I would Street Fighter bonus stage every car on that set if I could, and the worst part is Ill never get that 3 hours back. The finale provides great visuals, and it does give a vivid and high speed atmosphere, but it seems too little too late- accentuated by the ending. He goes to prison. Thats it. The good guy. Woo! 127 days for illegal street racing! I bet the fast and furious: redemption the prison movie would have made a bigger impact than this steaming pile of burnt out Rally racers. Ghost rider was a better racing movie! Despite all this, the audience around me kept the mood light, and with Suthan Sivakumarans witty banter, though he had to be silenced by the staff, we were all kept laughing throughout. The acting helped that too. -2 marks out of 5 2fast 2quick? pfft, this movie sucks d.. I must retain my professionalism (imagine that) Though it does deliver some cool shots of high speed pursuit, need for speed just, ironically enough, needs WAY more speed if its going to compete with the likes of TF&F. Lotr weekend next weekend! What am I doing Mon-Thurs? Vote in the comments! Godfather later today.
