Yeah God! I had a great time returning to the pulpit for the first - TopicsExpress

Yeah God! I had a great time returning to the pulpit for the first time since November 10th. We started a new series series for Lent entitled Examine based on Psalm 26:2, Test me, Lord, and try me, examine my heart and my mind; Today we started with an examination of our commitment to church mission, To Make Disciples. It is good to be back with people who have given so much love during this time... Very exciting and honoring was to have several special guest visitors today to celebrate our return - all of them coming by surprise! It makes one get a little emotional. Thanks Charlotte Grubb Kirk & Haley Kirk who stopped while coming through on the way to IKEA. Thanks Mel Wilhelm & Pat Wilhelm for being the only person in a tie to be at Bethany United Methodist Louisville today. Thanks Jack Hillard & Cathy Hillard, we have lived so much life together as we watched our kids grow up. It occurred to me while Luke Sparks was leading worship that when we left Lexington in 2006, Luke was about half the height he is now (and certainly would not have stood in front of a congregation with a guitar in his hands.) And to Randy Fields, Sherry & Isaac Fields (happy 16th b-day Wed), you have blessed our lives in so many indescribable way... today just adds more blessing to our growing list. And Gary Reader (who I thought was my Facebook friend), our next door neighbor who with his wife Cindy have checked on us and sent more notes than you would think possible. Through this whole process we have an incredible God who has shown up in so many ways. And the way that has been most beautiful is in the love, care and affection of our great Dave and Dawns Army of Hope. As we have joked about my weight loss plan, too bad it had to be this way to understand how much we really love all of you and cherish every relationships. This week in my ongoing care is a busy one as I have a PET Scan first thing tomorrow at UL Hospital, an oncologist appointment on Thursday to read the scan and discuss my future Interleuken-2 treatment, and then surgery with a quick overnight stay on Friday to remove my thyroid. Thanks again for everybodys prayers and expressions of extravagant love.
