Yeah, start them out early.... treat them differently so they learn early and come to believe they are less than. We are derailing our minority and poor children from the moment they leave our arms/protection and place them into daycare/public schools. WE parents arent teaching them that they are less than, but WE are allowing others to do so. I wasnt raised to believe I was less than anyone, and did not raise my daughters to think so either. I recall one school Open House (two months into the school year) where this teacher had separated my youngest to a table with other children of single parents. When I asked why shes separated her class this way, she said that she felt that kids with only one parent werent going to do as well as kids with two parents who could put in the time. Anddddd I went apeshit. When I was done tearing her a new one and pointing out that my daughters were both exceptional students in this school despite her crap, I then demanded to see the principal. (My oldest graduated as valedictorian of that same elementary school for godsake! Single parenting for the win, thanks) Id always been a very vocal involved parent - not a complainer - but a parent paying attention despite working fulltime and often with a parttime job too. We leave our children with these people for most of the day - damn right we should know and have a say in how theyre taught and treated. That school knew my name and made time for me every single time I needed to see someone because I wasnt randomly finding fault but rather pointing out very valid shortcomings or needs. When we moved from that area, the principal called to personally thank me for helping her make her school better for all of her students. THIS is how we change things people.
