Yeah, um, nice try, Daily Banter, (actually, it wasnt much of a try at all), but unless youre all total idiots, youd know that there is and were far deeper implications to the use of the N-word than there ever was with the word Cracker. African Americans were dehumanized ~ kidnapped, and bought and sold as slaves, considered three-fifths of an actual person, not given equal rights until a century later, and even after that, still treated as less-than-human by certain segments of the white population. The N-word was like a verbal whip when an actual whip was no longer allowed. The N-word was a tool used in an attempt to force an entire race into the submission of so-called white supremacy. What is Cracker compared to that? What is its violent history? How did black people control us by the use of that stupid little word?They didnt. Sure, its a slur of sorts, but one that was only created in reaction to the behavior of our ancestors. Oh, and if youre so concerned with epitaphs that hurt or demean and entire race, I suppose that means your editors are in favor of Washington dropping the name Redskins. I look forward to read an article issuing your support of our American Indian brothers and sisters.
