Year of Inspiration Day 305: The Friday night slide show of the Himalayas inspired me to watch Seven Years in Tibet, again. Its been years. Its an excellent portrayal of cultural destructiveness when China took over peaceful Tibet. Its interesting that my own experience with feeling destroyed for being different took place in my home region. Everything changed when I became a midwife - it was like being bullied for having a mentally ill sibling, all over again. I was a threat, obviously. I remember one physician colleague calling it rape Cathy Hartt and go home feeling good about it country (figurative meaning). Cultural destructiveness. I went to an interesting dinner last night with a good friend. I got some very neat stuff at the silent auction for a very good price (including gourmet dog treats for Maizzy) and met some inspiring folks. Its cool to find peace by honoring the Yin and Yang. That was last night for me. Im more at peace here than I was as a midwife. Today we talked about Native American spiritual tradition in church. I sometimes wish we were closer to the rez, Id find a midwifey job and be a healer in their cultural. Life is what it is. I have three peaceful cats sleeping by me now - it is bliss of its own kind. And sweet Maizzy finally figured out her gourmet chew stick... And, she is getting good at roll over. My home is a new culture for her. I think she is at peace with it, too. Tomorrow brings the balance of work. Lets be inspired by it!
