Years ago I bought about 20 hanging baskets filled with Impatients, sometimes called touch me nots. I hung them in our yard which was very shady. When the seed pods matured and popped plants started coming up every where. They were really pretty and the kids loved to touch the seed pods and make them pop. Over the years they spred all over the property. They even found their way into some leaves on top of the house, and grew quite well till they were swept off. Nurseries now sell New Guinea Impatients that dont have seed pods. I finally got a few plants of the originals that are still reseeding themselves, but only one color. Im looking for other colors if anyone else grows them. Below are pics of Touch me nots, Balsam which have seed pods, and New Guinea Impatients that do not.
