Years ago I trained a young kid His name is Jason Free. Jason was from Indiana where he lived with his Grandmother. He came out on vacation to visit his Mother who lived in Upland. This kid could have had a great future in wrestling. He was so good that I used to take him to Tijuana and Rey Misterio Sr. loved his skills and used him often. Shortly before Antonio Pena from AAA made his contact with karl Lauer and his partners to bring in his AAA wrestlers to Los Angeles Jason decided to go home to Indiana for a few weeks. He fell in love and decided not to come back. I truly feel that his timing for leaving was bad. A few days before the event with Karl Lauers group I was approached By Rey Misterio Jr. who now wrestles as Rey Mysterio in WWE and he asked me to get help get him in contact with the promotion as he wanted to be on that particular event regardless if he got paid or not. I gave him the contact number of one of the promoters involved and Rey did wind up working the show, and it was his way of getting noticed by Antonio Pena. It could have been a great opportunity for Jason Free. I did hear years later that Jason got his neck broken in a match. So sad the guy was amazing. Each time a wrestler steps into the ring his life and livelihood is at stake. Be careful guys.
