Years ago, before I had discovered Lovecraft (11 or 12 I think) I had an odd dream. My family and I set out on a day adventure. it was one of those Be a pirate things, where they dress up an old ship and make like privateers for fun and profit. In the dream we hit something and the whole ship capsized. We were sinking and trapped in a pocket of air. After a while we noticed that there was another person with us. it was a long legged man with a lantern jaw and pock marked skin. He wore a brown suit. I asked him what his name was and he answered, I am the avatar of the Squid. Ive never forgotten that dream. I do remember that after reading The Outsider I became a huge fan of Lovecraft. When I finally found a copy of a book that had his picture, I realized that the avatar and Lovecraft had the same face. Anyone else have an experience like that?
