Years ago when I represented the Florida Game & Freshwater Fish - TopicsExpress

Years ago when I represented the Florida Game & Freshwater Fish Commission, I remember how excited we were to get federal surplus equipment. With a good mechanic, we got many, many more years of good use out of what the feds discarded. I thought the feds were penny foolish then. Now, I read (column below) that theyre just going to destroy that surplus equipment rather than pass it on--all in the name of environmentalism and our governments progressive new policies. Good grief! Just last month, the administration canceled two programs that provide firefighters with more than $150 million in military equipment the federal government no longer needs. Instead, the administration determined the surplus equipment must be destroyed. Surely, you must be wondering what fatal safety flaw was discovered that would prevent firefighters from receiving these much-needed federal government hand-me-downs. The simple answer from the administration is that the surplus equipment did not meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s air emissions.
