Yeatserday, John Lammers, Andy Parkhill & I had lunch at Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester NY, and dinner at the new Dinosaur BBQ location in Buffalo. This.Was.Excellent. Obviously, having bar-b-que twice in one day is pretty excellent. We wanted to see how the new Buffalo location compared to Rochester & Syracuse, in hopes that we could save ourselves some driving time on future trips. The conclusion? Buffalo was great. All three of us agred that well happily go back to Dino in Buffalo. That cuts 2-1/2 hours off the round trip, which means we could even go for weekday dinner! Before ANY of you post about great BBQ places in The Golden Horseshoe, save your breath. We have long-since learned that people unacconsomed to southern BBQ in (for example) Texas, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, and The Carolinas, do not have a credible reference. Many years of trying BBQ in these places, and networking with many touring musicians, touring music technicians, and southern BBQ aficionados has validated this belief. The closest to Toronto that real BBQ can be found is Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and now, thats as close as an hour-and-a-half drive from Mississauga. Rejoice! Soon, well be making a pilgrimage to all eight Dinosaur locations: Brooklyn NY, Buffalo NY, Harlem NY, Newark NJ, Rochester NY, Stamford CT, Syracuse NY, and Troy NY.
