Positive, loving, supportive, healthy families dont just happen; they take a lot of intentionality. Today, we continue our series on creating a positive family culture. Tip #3 Finalize Your Statement You likely have a huge list now of family values, ideas, and dreams. You want your family mission statement to be short and memorable, so its time to collaborate with your family to make the final draft. Combine ideas that mean the same thing. Toss out ideas that everyone doesnt agree on. Write, edit, and re-write until everyone is happy with it. A sample mission statement: Our Family mission is to: Value honesty with ourselves and others. Create an environment where each of us can find support and encouragement in achieving our life’s goals. Respect and accept each person’s unique personality and talents. Promote a loving, kind, and happy atmosphere. Support family endeavors that better society. Maintain patience through understanding.
