Yellow Poplar all over the place. The first pic is one I found in town and the stick actually came from a scenic parking spot on the side of a highway at Laurel Canyons, PA. At the roadside parking, there were tons of poplars. When I saw them, I felt like I was looking the tree of life. Cordage, firestarting tinder, wet fire material, bow drill material...amazing. Mother Nature provides. I also picked up a 8 X 8 pine log that was cut and left at the side of the road for some bow drill material and experimentational stuff.
