Yemen | Project Manager Protection INTERSOS is an independent non-profit humanitarian organization committed to assist the victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Its activities are based on the principles of solidarity, justice, human dignity, equality of rights and opportunities, and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying special attention to the most vulnerable and unprotected people. INTERSOSis present in Yemen since the beginning of 2008 with a project funded by UNHCR, in support of the refugees in Kharaz camp (Lahj Governorate) and Basateen urban area (Aden Governorate). This project is part of a larger UNHCR strategy to improve government and community protection capacities in Yemen and to develop a self-reliance strategy including skills/vocational training activities and provision of job to assist refugees in attaining self-reliance. INTERSOS, in the framework of its activities in Yemen, is currently selecting candidates for the following position. JOB TITLE: Project Manager in Protection DUTY STATION: Yemen STARTING DATE: Immediate ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Project Manager is in charge of the implementation and the supervision of a protection project targeting the Internally Displaced People (IDP) returnees. S/he is also responsible of developing response plans to humanitarian needs that may result from conflict escalation in the area and early recovery programs in the area of intervention. Specifically s/he will be responsible: · Supervise the provision of protection assistance to the target population through a strong community-based approach. · To contribute, within the strategic framework of the SGBV Working Group activated in Aden, to implementation and strengthening the SGBV response mechanism · To facilitate the identification of human rights violations (including victims of ERW) and protection risks, including poor access of persons with specific needs to basic services. · services through Community-based Protection Networks, including CBOs (Community Based Organizations) and volunteers pivoting on the coordination provided by the INTERSOS Community Services · Promote the capacity-building of relevant protection actors (among the civil society, government authorities and community leaders) on human rights and rule of law · Conduct regular visits to project’s targeted areas (security permitting); · Ensure regular coordination with protection clusters and relevant donors. · To be responsible for accurate project administration and to supervise and monitor the preparation of accounting documents for interim and final financial reports required by · donors; · To be responsible for the accuracy of all reports required by donors; · To submit to the Head of Mission, consistently with data entered into the PAT, the activity reports that will be submitted to the donor; JOB REQUIREMENTS Fluent in Arabic and English mandatory Advanced university degree in social sciences, law, or other related field Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience at international levels, with NGOs, in protection/child protection/GBV Strong understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context, including Sphere, the humanitarian system, donors, security and program management Knowledge of the procedure of international donors (UN donors, ECHO, EC, etc).
