Yemen falling to rebels, Chechnya going from satellite to Islamic state... Young Europeans running off to fight the good fight in the name of Allah... I have a feeling the 1st half of the 20th century is repeating itself: Wanna-be-dictators are realizing the potential for power in Islamic fundamentalism in poor Muslim states and getting on the bandwagon, like dictators once realized the potential for manipulating the masses in Communism. Seldom is there a popular movement like Communism/Nazism/radical Islam with so much potential to mobilize and manipulate the poor masses. My prediction: In the 21st Century we will experience a Renaissance of bloodthirsty dictators, and if any of those states gain enough power to have satellite states, there will also be a WWIII/Cold War pitting the East against the West.
