Yer ol perfesser--who already today has had two occasions on which it was not inappropriate to mention that there is no such thing as too much cynicism--regardz the kerfluffle over The Interview with a certain jaundiced view. It smacks to me of either 1) an insurance scam--SONY got insurance against such an event, somehow and, knowing what a turkey it was, decided to call in their markers, and cut their losses-- or 2) a gigantic PR scam to create an instant underground cult film. I personally view it as a blessing in that the world of general distribution, anyway, is being spared yet another desperately unfunny Seth Rogen film. wired/2014/12/evidence-of-north-korea-hack-is-thin/
