Yes, I read too much Tech News, but two items in the world of IOS caught my attention enough to make me comment. the first app is at this time, an i-Pad only braille app. It is brailler notes and allows for contracted braille, tables, and in-app editting. I have not seen a review yet, but Apple braille will only echo back what is typed in grade 1 braille. This makes the process of braille writing more complicated than it needs to be. MBraille on the i-Pad goes up and down depending on updates. The developer does his best, but he cannot anticipate Apple or fix bugs internal to Apple. The second app of note is Voice Dream writer. I have but do not use Voice Dream Reader I know it is a very popular app for blind users but I never connected it to Bookshare. Voice Dream Writer is a text editor and helps with word definition, spell check gramar check and general formatting of documents. It will export to Windows, pages and other places. The thing which sparked my interest is the ease with which a VoiceOver user can select, copy paste or in any way manipulate text. This avoids the complexity of inward and outward pinching which VoiceOver users rely on to select and unselect text. This app obviously works with a bluetooth print keyboard as that what the developer was using in his demonstration. The i-Pad just became a better tool for productivity.
