Yes, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest is very appropriate. At 2AM I was awakened by a low muffled bark that sounds like a dog that has laryngitis. Well, thats Lei Lei. Her bark sounds like the bark that wanted to be a bark but couldnt. I listened for several minutes thinking she saw a cat or raccoon in the yard and would go back inside soon. And then I realized it was a different bark. Not an excited I saw a cat bark but a lazy kind of bark- sporadic and not like she was barking at something strange. I lay there a minute or so longer, dreading to get up again as I always lose my spot on the bed and have to move dogs to get back in. But she didnt stop. A low muffled ruff every 5 seconds or so....this could be annoying. I drag myself up and stumble into the livingroom and it was the strangest thing. She had gone outside probably to potty using the doggie door (not strange here) but she didnt want to use the doggie door to come back IN. So she was laying on the top step of the porch with her head through the doggie door and it was laying on the living room floor. Confused at first, I thought something had happened to her like a stroke or something and she couldnt make it all the way in but no...as soon as she saw I had come to let her in, she pulled her head back through the doggie door, popped right up and waited for the door to open and in she waddled and went back to her bed. Just weird, I tell you. These dogs are weird! Shaking my head at how strange this was, I stumble back into the bedroom in the dark, trying not to wake anyone up...and had to remove Paddy Boo from my pillow.
