Yes, because half of Marceline has asked me, Im the guy doing the wedding of the two carnival workers at high noon tomorrow at Ripley Park, by the carousel. (He works that ride.) And I have to say that this has been some of the most enjoyable, Christ-centered pre-marital preparation I have ever been involved in, as well as an intensely educational experience. I was asked by the couple to perform a traditional carnie wedding, and after failing to locate an example of that liturgy, I was told that a traditional carnie wedding begins not with a walk down an aisle, but with three trips of the couple around the carousel. (A traditional carnie divorce, I was informed, involves riding the carousel backward three times. I told them they wouldnt be needing that.) This wedding will promise a beautiful day for weather, a Christ-centered commitment to marriage, and even some music. And the groom should never have trouble remembering his anniversary. I cant think of a better way to celebrate the Fourth.
