Yes, life here at home is not the same as what we used to read on face book. Its unfortunate for those friends living abroad since social media is the most common source of info. I recollect the ethnic and political tension and debate that I read on face book. I dont think people here at home are in the same position because there are lots of issues that people discuss and worry about. These issue of ethnicity and political differences are so over presented on face book. No question that there is lots of corruption and problems here at home....but the problems are not just about ethnic/political...its majorly about lack of good hearts and lack of genuine sense of care for the society. Lets take the issue more than ethnic or political....what is nice is, majority of the population at home do enjoy and relax despite all the odds...but those of us living abroad feel that people are very sad....the context of happiness is also very different here... Last week I was waiting for the Taxi...and the number of people on the waiting line was by far more than the available cars...finally I was in the Taxi and I was HAPPY :) Yes, I was happy because I managed to get in and found a seat in the taxi. Happiness for getting Taxi!.....you can be happy for managing to be in the Taxi? the answer depends on where you are. At Copenhagen and most cities abroad? No, because the buses do have more seats than the number of passengers in most cases. but here, there are few taxis compared to the number of travelers...thus you feel lucky if you manage to get the Taxi easily....I think that is why Happiness and what make us feel happy depend on where you are.....one more example, we went to Merkato and got a Freezer....and we felt happy after bringing the freezer home...but through lots of struggle....but when you are abroad you can find a used freezer from the roadside...and its no more big news that you got a freezer...and you can not be that happy for buying a freezer....the same is true for those who own cars....if you buy a car at Addis Ababa, you can be very lucky....what about in Europe? Is it as such a very big news? Can you be very happy for that? No...but you can be very happy of you were in Ethiopia......Yes, happiness is very much contextual...and relative term.....thus, for those friends living abroad, please dont take the ethnic and political debates from face book too far....because the practical reality here at home is very far and more complex than the ethnic and political debates......cheers
