Yes, there are plenty of worthy causes out there, but you cant deny that the whole #ALSicebucketchallenge thing is getting the lions share of the attention these days. Awareness of ALS is up, and so are donations - all because people are filming themselves getting buckets of ice and water dumped over their heads. Crazy right? I know many of you are bored with it and groan at every new video, or mock those that do them. I choose to not be so cynical. Its all done in fun, and done for a good cause. Maybe not your cause, but worthy nonetheless. Last night, my brother Michael Prange threw down the gauntlet to me. Well, challenge accepted and now, challenge met. Of course, the part that keeps it going is to challenge more people. Now, most of the people I immediately thought of would either NEVER do it, or they have already done it. So I decided to challenge my two step-sisters, Claire Elkington Mosshamer & Kate Elkington Mitchell, and friend Tracey Dear - its the ALL ENGLAND challenge! World-traveler Sheepy Mosshamer took the challenge along with me, and he in turn challenged the Girl Scout Troop that my niece (the giggly one dumping the water on me) belongs to. For the record, the bucket contained two 7 lb bags of ice and was then filled with water from a hose. Yeah, it was cold. Breath-takingly so.
