Yesterday 53 Christians, as part of the #LoveMakesAWay movement, - TopicsExpress

Yesterday 53 Christians, as part of the #LoveMakesAWay movement, were arrested or forcibly removed from the electorate offices of Government MPs across Australia after holding peaceful prayer vigil sit-ins calling on the Government to release detained asylum-seeker children into the community. In Sydney some of the group were roughly handled by police, and in Perth the group of 8 were strip-searched. These acts were unnecessary, as LMAW actions are peaceful and respectful. But much worse than any of this is the way our country treats asylum seekers. Currently the government is preparing to send 25 asylum seeker babies — who were born on Australian soil — to Nauru, even after promising to release them. If you think this struggle is over because the government made a dodgy deal with Senate crossbenchers last week, you are unfortunately mistaken. This movement will not stop until we see compassion shown to people seeking asylum here.
