Yesterday, Colin Beavan aka No Impact Man asked FB friends to tell him how one small action to live in line with their values turned into a big life change. We think the answers will inspire you so we are posting them here. These people rock!! (Feel free to add your own story in comments). You can read more answers to Colins question here: https://facebook/ColinBeavan/posts/733043176733852 Crystal Castle I became vegan, lost a ton of weight, became super healthy and have since become a nutritionist and personal trainer who works with the under served community of Detroit to help those who need the most help. I have helped to develop nutrition programs, community gardens and community based workout programs to help keep the community healthy. Chrissy Gruninger I chose to only stay in eco hotels, wrote a book about it, sent it to a hotel management company in Costa Rica and they then contacted me and hired me as their content creator/social media manager. Now Im living my version of paradise in Costa Rica and supporting good people and companies in marketing ecotourism, nonprofits and health and wellness/yoga. Pura vida! Kim Fraczek Worked as a creative director in fashion industry for 10 years, heard about Fracking, heard about the Spectra pipeline. Started fighting it. It took over my life, I lost my job (well, due to their unsustainable outsourcing) happily worked little jobs teaching art/ jewelry making to sustain my activist life now a coordinator of a grassroots enviro organization. Never looking back. Sarah Megga I wanted to kick the plastic habit so I started to bring my own bags to the grocery store. Then I began making reusable bags out of recycled materials and then I began advocating for a plastic bag ban. Three years if hard work Later Bisbee Arizona banned the plastic bag and people always look to me as the girl who took one small step for herself and created good change. Wendy Peterman I decided to go a week without purchasing anything in plastic and blog about it. I ended up going a month without plastic and started a campaign to ban plastic bags in our town. Two years later, we got a ban. Betsy Rosenberg In 1997 as a newscaster on CBS radio station in SF I started a one minute waste prevention feature called TrashTalk. After a ten year run I went from garbage to global warming and local to the first national green talk show on commercial radio. Cost me a lot to pursue my growing passion to bring environmental content and consciousness to Americas airwaves but hope it will be worth it. Marc Siepman Although I was scared of speaking in front of groups, I offered free courses on natural soil fertility. Although I thought Id be lucky if thered be enough applications to fill one or two courses, Im about to fill my 25th course. Jessica Stone Troy Im in the midst of something like that happening to me. I decided to reach out to my neighbors when I felt a rift growing between us, and now Im working towards building up community activity on my street.
