Yesterday, December 8th, marked the anniversary of two rock and roll icons who were murdered on that day. The first and most obvious is Dimebag Darrell Abbott, best known for his metal guitar playing in both Pantera and DamagePlan. He was murdered exactly ten years ago yesterday while on tour with his brother and drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott in DamagePlan. The scene of the crime was the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. He was 38 when he died. Gunman Nathan Gale was taken out by police after Dime, audience member Nathan Bray, and the bands head of security Jeff Meyham Thompson were murdered. The other is the legendary John Lennon, frontman and founding member of The Beatles from Liverpool, England. Convicted murderer Mark David Chapman killed Lennon just outside of his apartment in New York City 34 years ago. He was 40 years old at the time of his death. After pleading guilty to Second-Degree Murder, Chapman was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison and remains there to this day; he has been denied parole eight times since his incarceration. Rest In Peace, Gentlemen. You will never be forgotten and we shall see you again soon.
