Yesterday I called my staff for a meeting. I told them that there will be significant changes in our department. I am not good in delivering bad news especially that its Christmas because behind each one of them could be a kid going to school or a sick family member. So I delivered the bad news. Expectedly, they were not happy. This morning one of my senior staff came to talk. He told me hes not prepared but is ready since he understands what were going through. We talked for a while and then he told me that I was the best thing that ever happened in this department. There was another staff who said the same exact statement at a different time on a different occasion. I said nothing. I knew he was not faking it because it melted my heart. But I cannot show emotions. So I wrote it here
