Yesterday I decided to visit the cull zone to see with my own eyes - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I decided to visit the cull zone to see with my own eyes whats going on (now that the BBC no longer report on it). I met some interesting people there, some were the usual suspects with tribal tattoos and piercings but most were people like me middle aged and middle class, well dressed and in very smart cars. Many of them had never protested against anything in their lives before the cull. All of them however were united in a common cause, to try in what ever way they could to protect our badgers from wholesale slaughter for no good reason. I positioned myself in a layby near Gadfield Elm and from there I had a good view of the proceedings. I watched the police helicopter circling high above and I watched the police who were being used by the culling companies to guard their traps. At one point the car I was sitting in was surrounded by police from Devon & Cornwall who tried the handles and when they couldnt get in shone torches in my face and asked questions. They also tried to serve me with the NFUs injunction, a (civil injunction) but when I refused to speak to them they went back to their riot van (one of two) and just sat there. I later found out they had been forming a road block to allow contractors in to take away traps (they have given up on free shooting now). As a tax payer this isnt what I want my money being spent on. I dont want to see people evicted from their homes because they cant pay the bedroom tax when at the same time the government is wasting millions on a cull only a few farmers and a few more shooting estate managers want. Nothing but the removal of Mr Cameron in 2015 will halt the slide of this country into a dark and horrible place, I cant help but think that if there had been more ordinary people in Germany in the 1930s who were prepared to risk their liberty, to defeat the right wing we would have been spared a world war. But surely you say things could never get that bad? but thats what they thought then, these are dark days my friends., best keep a box of matches in your pocket.
