Yesterday I experienced incredible sense of loss and my heart is heavy, Overwhelmed with disappointment, then grief God showed up and gave me comfort. I look back at the good times I shared with my Grandma, she was an incredible woman. To have lived 99 documented years in a world where our youth are dying younger and younger is an accomplishment within itself. Grandma was so much more than just an ordinary Grandma, one of the first black women business owners in her time, she never turned her back on anyone, Everyone had a place to stay and food to eat. She raised many kids outside of her own. She gave unconditionally to those she loved and cared for, She volunteered she mentored. She could cuss you out and she could pray for you at the same time. She spoke her mind, and worked hard . She was everyones rock when times got hard.. She taught me a lot about life , she taught me how to be a woman with principles that I still hold on to. She demonstrated love through her actions which spoke volumes She took life by the horns and though she has been knock down ,misunderstood, mistreated , taken of advantage of , denied, overlooked and sometimes unappreciated ... She would say Baby its alright I still here She was a real ride or die chic and I am grateful to have ridden shotgun with her on many adventures. I love you Grandma I will miss you but Mom is there waiting with open arms.... RIP
