Yesterday, I had a doctors appointment for my knee. His office is by a hospital, so I parked in the garage and got out to put money in the Pay Parking machine. It cost $2.00. I had a $5.00, so I turned to a small group of men to ask if anyone had change. I noticed they were speaking Spanish, but undeterred, I asked anyway. One of the men walked over to me, pointed at the machine and said, $2. I knew I reassured him but I only had a $5. I asked if he had change. He smiled and said, No. Take. I didnt want to just take his money and I didnt mind a kind man having my extra three bucks, I just didnt want to tip a Parking Machine, so I suggested, Trade? He smiled and said no thank you, put his money on top of the machine. Then he and his friends walked off waving and smiling. Another man was sweeping the garage, and when he saw I didnt know how to use the machine, he came over and after asking, put the money in for me. After he helped, he started to walk away but stopped. He turned around and said, Thanks for not being scared and refusing help from an old black man. I smiled and replied, Thanks for helping and old man with no hands.
