Yesterday I hopped a cab to the monkey temple and spent the afternoon there. I didnt research anything and had no idea where I was going so it was a complete surprise to drive all through the city and then be let off next to a small mountain on the outskirts of Kathmandu where a very intimidatingly steep staircase leads to the temple, a mini village on the very top. I was out of breath after climbing the 365 steps to the top. Macaque monkeys and dogs were hanging around being lazy. After taking in the breath-taking views of the entire Kathmandu valley I had a huge traditional Nepali lunch on a rooftop cafe by myself. It was a clear day and I could see mountains in the distance. I could not see but know that behind those mountains there are even bigger mountains all covered in snow. Tomorrow morning I will be headed that way. My friend will return from Pokhara this afternoon with our guide and sherpa and we will get our packs together and spend the last night at the guest house. Its 10am and I slept a full 8 hours and didnt drink last night. I just had Eggs Benedict at the New Orleans Cafe (my spot) and Im gonna take a shower, get stoned and hop a cab to Bhaktapur, the living time capsule of a medieval city. I will post more later. Peace :)
