Yesterday, I learnt of the death of the wonderful Brazilian pianist, Jose Feghali. He died far too young, aged 53. I met Jose in London when I was a student at the Royal Academy of Music, and although I cant say we really had the time to develop a friendship, I always enjoyed his company and his beautiful, poetic pianism. The last time I saw him was a few years ago in Forth Worth. He showed up at my recital with Van Cliburn and Vans partner, Tommy. We spent the most wonderful evening together at Cliburns majestic, palatial house. May you rest in peace, Jose...
