Yesterday I lost my grandfather to an almost year long battle with cancer. While I didnt get to see him or talk to him as often as I would have liked to, he was still such an incredibly important role model in my life. Straightforward, honest, charming, and caring - sometimes hard to deal with, and very opinionated - he gave everyone the respect they deserved. Every time I talked to him throughout his battle, he was optimistic and cheerful. He fought so hard every step of the way and I am so proud and humbled to have him as my grandfather. Im sorry that I couldnt be with him in his final moments, but Im glad that I got the chance to see him before he passed - that I had the chance to tell him how much I loved him. I miss him dearly, but Im glad he can finally rest, and that he passed with dignity and surrounded by his loved ones. Rest in peace, Buddy Grampa. I miss you and I love you.
