Yesterday I posted on how to make a smudge stick, today Im posting a smudge that I came up with to honor my matron. This smudge is actually loose and is burned in my smudge bowl, much like you would burn a loose incense. My smudge bowl is glass, so I fill it about half full with sand. I then make an indent in the center where I place a charcoal disk. Light the charcoal disk and add the smudge. Once it is smoking, use a feather and waft it around the area you are cleansing, much like you would with a sage stick. The herbs are already dried, so it is also a quick way to prepare for a smudge and you dont have the time to wait for the stick to dry.
