Yesterday I returned from a wonderful vacation to the US and British Virgin Islands, and I was saddened when I opened an email from Jill Ross at Collage Video, announcing their impending closure. It made me feel nostalgic for my start in 2007, when I began producing home exercise videos. I remember my sense of pride and accomplishment when Collage accepted my first workout, Core and Strength Fusion, and rated it a Staff Favorite. I had followed my dream and Collage had helped it come true. For years, long before I ever filmed my first workout, I respected Collage Video for their integrity and their ability, thanks to qualified, experienced personnel, to select quality exercise workouts and to offer educated information about each one. I called Jill Ross that year before I filmed, and I asked for her input and advice. She didnt know me from boo, but she took my call and she was honest and insightful. She validated the respect I had for Collage, and she doubled my desire to have my workouts represented by their company. I havent filmed a lot of workouts, as I am a person who values fitness, health and wellness on so many levels, so much so that I get caught up in other related endeavors: Writing articles, presenting workshops to industry professionals, and now teaching in the Kinesiology Dept. at NIU. Most importantly, my time was spent as a caregiver to my mom these past few years before she passed away. But the workouts I did film were a piece of my heart, an expression of my passion, experience, knowledge, and (hopefully) my talent; and each time one of my most significant signs of achievement was being a part of Collage and getting to share my workouts with their customers (whom I value tremendously). Quality is what I was striving for, and Collage represented that benchmark. Thank you Jill Ross for being a friend, at the very least on a business level, and for our time together in the industry. I will think of you when I film again. Best to you and all who have been a part of Collage.
