Yesterday I spent the morning with my colleague Hon. Craig Foss, Minister of Consumer Affairs, meeting with budgeting agencies and Ministry of Consumer Affairs staff. We discussed issues relating to vulnerable borrowers. We learnt of some appalling practices by predatory lenders and discussed the advantages of the new loan sharks legislation that is currently before parliament. Measures like responsible lending guidelines will make a real positive difference to vulnerable borrowers. I am shown below with the minister and Chris Dale of East Auckland Home and Budget Service in Panmure.
