Yesterday I took you down Old Fishmarket Close and this seemed to - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I took you down Old Fishmarket Close and this seemed to be rather popular. Tonight, Im taking you down my favourite close, anywhere in Old Edinburgh. Shot yesterday, this is Barries Close.... The first shot is the view from the top of close, immediately inside the wrought iron gate and at the top of the steps. The second shot is taken midway down the close as we descend, heading towards Old Fishmarket Close (which is joined round that bend, dead ahead). The last shot, is the view back UP the close, after weve descended the close and turned around (to see who followed us?) I know lots of you asked what it was like and I hope with these shots, you can get a feel for that. Its imposing, its dark, its damp and its got mould on the wall. There was no huge amount of history for this close itself as I have said many times before but it does connect to Old Fishmarket Close which we seen yesterday and as I also said, means the old Doomster probably cut down here on his way home. Beyond that, it surely looks the part though. Its got it all; gates, big spiked fencing, huge bricks and lots of mould, steps and a sneaky wee bend with a couple of excellent period lanterns. If I was a Hollywood film producer, Id use this close. IF anyone knows one, send him my way...its mine :-) and I have a few tales you could use for a cracking film. For now, this is Barries Close, up close and personal and closer than some of you said you would personally venture...hopefully the virtual tour gets you a wee bitty closer. Happy Friday folks!
