Yesterday, I was one of the three speakers for a Live A Live - TopicsExpress

Yesterday, I was one of the three speakers for a Live A Live session. Live A Live is a chat session series organised by Eugene Sim. He wanted to help our LGBT community by forming safe platforms for sharing our experiences about love, life, family and community. My fellow speakers are the amazing Miak Siew and Mathia Lee. We shared with a full-house of 30 people, and there was a small group of volunteers to help run the logistics and register guests. What is inspiring for me, besides the great sharing in the room (including the audience), is the community spirit displayed. Eugene, Emma and the rest of the volunteers worked for free (they charge a nominal entrance fee to cover rental of the venue and the food), donated their time and energy to the community. The central theme of this session was How To Make Love Last, and the audience was clearly eager to learn more about how to maintain healthy, lasting partnerships. We debunked some common misconceptions, hopefully expanded the possibilities of what can be defined as a great relationship. Hopefully, more LGBTs will find joy and fulfillment in helping our community. If many of the larger society is afraid to show care and concern for us, we can be the stronger ones and make our community a better one. My philosophy is simple: every time we do something to add value for our fellow LGBTs, we contribute to the well being of our community and therefore our own overall happiness. Im very proud to be a part of our LGBT community.
