Yesterday, I was so bummed out and a lot of things play into it. Priorities. Changes. Sacrifices. Emotions. Exhaustion. As usual, on a whim, we made a decision. These Haskinses dont play phuck-around about doing things we want to do. This decision was a big one though and believe it or not, we weighed it heavily despite our wants. The result was I made a swift job transition, upset the balance my kids had been accustomed to, canceling our usual August through October dune shenanigans, and we have worked, worked, worked, WORKED our asses off dumping every last penny into the house. Here is the thing, even the strongest people have a breaking point. Rough as it was, I told my kids they had to toughen up and accept the change. Rough as it is, I tell myself the same thing many days. That worked for all of us because we had an end goal or vision to achieve. While the goal/vision hasnt changed, having the house/shop/land we had been eagerly pursuing just jerked away from us without warning was a big let down for ALL of us. However, I woke up this morning after a good nights sleep (I can thank my incessant ranting about everything last night while everyone was outside and I was making dinner for that), and with a very untypical scowl in place, set off to make a fresh start on the house hunt and keep focusing on our goal. Weve found a couple other potential houses and plan to keep plugging along. Were really past the worst part, we KNOW we are approved to buy we just have to get the house sold. This time we are further along on the house than we were 2 months ago. And with that, theres the potential of maybe squeezing in some dune time next month or in October, short if we do but definitely will be worth it. After a LONG day at work, I was driving home and that needed boost came over the radio ....We Are The Champions came on and you know we sing it We Are The Haskins right? After a good belting of that song I felt WORLDS better. Still not great but hey, its a start. SO this weekend we will be plugging away on the remaining things that need tackling as far as updates/repairs/painting and next week well get more packing done. The next weekend we go to look at more houses and back to more painting ....then, I think we will be market ready. FINGERS CROSSED.
