Yesterday I went for a jog/walk with my dog near downtown - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I went for a jog/walk with my dog near downtown Bridgeport. As I was heading back home I noticed a group of 3 teenage boys on bikes behind me. Instinctively I held on to my phone in my pocket and pulled my dog in a little closer. After a brief (uncalled for) panic I released the grip of death I had on my phone and was immediately struck with grief. Not only because of my irrational fear but i felt grief over those boys. The fact that fear has been instilled in me, probably right after birth, of dark skin is my biggest regret. I have a mental illness. If you judge others by the color of their skin, by the amount of a chemical in their skin, YOU have a mental illness. I am deeply saddened by the fact that probably anywhere those three harmless boys go to they will also face the same discrimination I showed them last night. Racism is not part of the human condition, it is learned and it can be un-learned. Choose to be in love with ALL of humanity.
