Yesterday, I went to Happy Valley, which is a one of the first Tibetan settlements in India, to teach English. I feel blessed. I worked with high school students who had all left Tibet many years ago as young children, their parents had sent them illegally across the border with the wish for a chance to a better life and freedom. They brought me to tears as they shared some of their story, and their acceptance that they may never see their homeland or parents again. They are immersed in the Buddha Dharma and spoke about what they want from life, inner peace and happiness,, such a contrast to the school where I do work and the students are privileged and are working hard to get into college. Not saying one is right and the other is wrong, just two different worlds, but right down the road from each other.
