Yesterday I went to a meet and greet for a woman running for city - TopicsExpress

Yesterday I went to a meet and greet for a woman running for city council in my city. There is only one seat open this election. Less than 10 people showed up in a city with more than 194,000 people. At age 59, I was probably the youngest person there. The candidate was friendly and articulate. She presented a couple of specific ideas for improvements. Nothing that I would consider visionary or ground breaking, but nothing radical either. She was open to questions and ideas. For this election, I have not received any other information or even one other candidate, to meet them or give my information on their agenda. From this sort of participation on the local level, is it any wonder why we have such a low quality of representatives for higher offices? People...get out there. Your local candidates are the ones who will move up to regional, state and federal offices!
