Yesterday, Joni and I ran in to Walmart to pick up a few items. We went in the soap aisle and there were a few people in the aisle already. One of those people was a man I believe was into his 80s on one of the Walmart electric scooters. Everyone was walking around him and one person even bumped into his scooter. He was looking up at a shelf and it pretty much broke my heart. I asked him if I could reach something for him and I vaguely made out Mennen (it sounded like he was maybe a stroke victim). I didnt see any Mennen products where he was looking, then he said red. There were 2 different red boxes in that area, both were Old Spice products. I handed him one of the boxes and he said after shave. The box I gave him said cologne so I grabbed the other one and it said after shave. He had a big smile and very wet eyes. I asked him if there was anything else he needed help with, he said no and thank you. Joni and I went on our way this whole deal took less than 1 minute. Why do I bring it up? Because I have to. One minute of your time can be a big deal to someone. You dont know a persons situation. He was maybe someones father, grandpa, spouse, maybe widowed - who knows? He was trying to do something that must be very difficult for himself. If we each did something helpful for someone else even once a week, I guarantee the world, or our piece of it, would be a better place. Most people like to be served, but part of our mission on earth is also serving. The best things there are in life, do not cost a dime, but are priceless.
