Yesterday, Treasury Secretary Lew warned Congress to act on raising the debt limit well before February 7th and stop playing political games with the full faith and credit of the United States. Yet, Republicans continue to ignore these calls for responsible action and follow their dangerous and ultimately futile hostage-taking strategy. This is why we need to permanently reform this process as I have outlined. In the coming days, I will start a petition in Congress to force a vote on my proposal to permanently end this debt limit brinksmanship.
