Yesterday Up North Jobs had a booth set up across Sheridan from the office in the garden area of Canadian Waters, thanks to Dan Waters. The Ely Chamber of Commerce refused to let us have a booth in the park, for some made up reason. Yesterday around 5 Pm a guy came to the booth and started counting the pro mining and pro jobs yard signs we put up and were giving away. When asked if he needed help he introduced himself as the City Inspector acting on a complaint that we were in violation of city ordances on how many political signs one can have. Tried explaining to the dufus that our sign are not political, they dont support one person or party or another but are about jobs. Guess he couldnt see the difference and made UNJ take most of the signs down. There was a former miner there that stopped in and when he question the esteemed inspector he was threatened with having the police called on him. Someone or group (hum, wonder who) certainly wants to shut us down. Gerald is going to go to city hall tomorrow and see if he can find out who filed the complaint. Very interesting that on a Saturday, and THE busiest weekend of the year the City would act on a complaint, rather than wait for Monday. Ill let you know when and if we find out who the culprit is, but you all know its the usual suspects.
