Yesterday a dear friend, mentor and former colleague Greg Butler - TopicsExpress

Yesterday a dear friend, mentor and former colleague Greg Butler passed away in an accident in London. I´m so, so sad that he can´t share his toughts on how we shall mutually solve the challenges for our youth education. He was a great strategic thinker and could like no other, that I know of, turn things with his question into new perspective to make us all think in new direction. Greg was the founder of Partners in Learning an Microsoft initiative to support schools across the world and Microsoft has invested more than $500 million in this program. He also created a partnership with Melbourne University to understand if and how skills can be measured. This is implemented in the new PISA 2015 testing. During 2013 he started Collaborative Impact with focus not only on skills assessment, but also on New Pedagogies for Deep Learning. NPDL is a collaboration with researcher such as Prof Fullan and Prof Hattie how to transform education in 12-18 months through a structured change process. His whole life was dedicated to education as a teacher, school leader and then internationally work with gov elites to support them and advice them how to change the educational system. He had so much more to contribute and develop however all of us can carry his ideas and thoughts with us through continuing his work to support students to reach their goals. Our thougths are today with his family.
