Yesterday, after a planned attack on a truck carrying cattle near Johannesburg, the truck was overturned and the cattle were attacked by a frenzied mob carrying knives, pangas and buckets to carry the meat that was hacked off the living animals. Cattle were chased, some with broken legs, and hacked to pieces. Alive. One can take the savages out of the bush and try to civilize them but you will NEVER take the savagery out of them. At the same time foreign black shop owners are being attacked and shops burnt down in Soweto. They want to work and have successful businesses. That makes them a target by those who do not want to work. And are also constantly stealing them blind. What hope a country with such people? Ang now works in the employment industry. They do not even take a white people on their books. They are by law not employable. And the quality of some of the applicants is just beyond belief. Their English language skills are, amongst others, nothing less than laughable. But they have to get the jobs. New legislation to combat ’fronting’ is punitive and a company caught doing this will face huge fines and can be closed down. And this in the ‘new non racial South Africa’ that was so hoped for. I have just experienced what is happening to the nursing profession. Experienced only one white nurse and she was in George and without her coming on duty for the early morning shift I do not know if I would have made it. And the so called ‘president’ dumps an old wife and will probably be taking on another new younger one to add to his harem. Let me stop now and sorry for this but feeling very disillusioned at present.
