Yesterday as South Africans participated in the country’s fifth democratic elections; Unisa was present at 70 voting stations mainly in Gauteng. Unisa deployed 70 trained, accredited and non-partisan observers as part of its Election Observer Mission (EOM) team. The evening preliminary report based on the observers’ reports revealed that 51 out of 70 (73%) polling stations opened on time and that 97% of ballot papers, ink and voters roll were available at polling stations throughout the voting process. These reports were then captured and aggregated to be analysed, follow #UnisaObs2014 on Twitter to see the analysis.
