Yesterday at work, we were presented a certificate of appreciation - TopicsExpress

Yesterday at work, we were presented a certificate of appreciation from the Marine Corps League for our donation to help raise money for a wounded veteran whos physical and mental state was forever changed through a barbaric act we call war. I find it disgusting that this man and his family will now suffer the physical and mental trauma of the conflict in which he was engaged everyday, but has to rely on private interests to help then cope. This is a debt that is owed to then by a government that decided to send him into harms way. If the scope of caring for our veterans is too great to afford, then perhaps we as human beings should find other methods to resolve our differences other than killing and maiming each other. I am proud to work for a company that will step in to fill that gap, volunteer money, material and manpower to make up for the lack of support we show our veterans. Instead of spending money to wage war, perhaps we should invest our time and money into ways to prevent war and the cost of human life, including those of non-combatants (civilians) who seem to pay just as high of a cost as those that participate in armed conflict.
