Yesterday church ended early because temperature was decreasing - TopicsExpress

Yesterday church ended early because temperature was decreasing rapidly, and ice was building up on the roads. We arent having the best weather here. It will warm up in a few days though. Mom, I see that you are very excited that my first 6 months are up. it has been a very fun 6 months. I imagine you smiling from ear to ear. Thanks for sending me on a mission! I am so glad to be able to do what I do. I cant wait to see the smile when I get to the airport! It will be super exciting! I didnt get transferred, but I knew I wouldnt because my companion is going home. I am staying to head off the area with a new companion. His name is Elder Pierson. I will let you know more about him next week. Nobody really knows about him, so I have nothing but a couple texts from him. I guess we will see what he is like later. The scriptures are amazing. There is so much to learn in each individual story. I still learn when reading even the most simple stories that I have read a million times. For instance the story of Nephi. We have all read it so many times but you can always learn more about anything you choose. They are a great way to find peace in life, and they show that nobody is outside the reach of Christ. (Note : I shared with Nate an analogy our Bishop shared in Testimony meeting on Sunday. He told about how we are like a boiled egg. He described sin as someone taking markers and drawing on the egg shell. When we are baptized we get to peel the sins off. He then went on to explain that it takes preparation before we get baptized to be prepared to have the sin peeled off. If we didn’t boil the egg, it would fall apart when it was peeled. The same is in our lives. We need to prepare. We need to work on our testimony and learn the gospel principles. Then after we are baptized, sometimes we sin and pieces of the shell get put back on. We have to constantly work on repenting and removing the pieces so our hearts don’t harden. That was a rough translation but gives you the gist of the story. Sorry Bishop for not saying it as great as you did in church) The egg analogy is so true. The egg needs to be prepared by boiling it, then baptized by pealing away the shell. It really goes to show how we need the heat. The egg had to go through an extreme amount of heat, or in our case affliction, to be prepared. That is just a great analogy altogether. Im glad that everybody is doing good. I hope Kelly gets feeling better. Everybody keep up the good work! Go easy on Mom for me! Story time! We eat at a place called Victors Italian food about twice a week. We are really good friends with the waiters, and they basically love us to death as their favorite customers. One of the waiters has slowly warmed up to us, and now is at the point where she is willing to let us go to her house, but she still doesnt want to hear much about church. She will get there some day though. There is a new waiter there that just started this last week. We went in, and basically just treated her well, and now she loves us too. Every waiter there loves missionaries now because we are nice to them. We are now going to be able to go to one of their houses, and hopefully teach. It is almost never a one day thing where we meet them, and teach them, and they want to get baptized. We start as an example, and a friend. Eventually everybody will get curious, and begin asking questions. We all need to be examples. We need to love all those who arent of our church, and be an example until we get to the point where they are willing to learn. Even if it takes a year, it is worth it to bring them happiness, and eternal life. I love you all, and I hope you have a blessed week! -Elder Nathan Farnsworth
